Veniero's History
Veniero’s Pasticceria & Caffé is an Italian bakery located at 342 East 11th Street (between First Avenue and Second Avenue), in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City.
Having just past its 130 Year Anniversary, this famous landmark was established in 1894 by its founder, Antonio Veniero of Sorrento. The bakery was opened as a pool emporium and caffé where Veniero served his baked products to customers. The demand for his pastries and cakes won him awards in Rome, Bologna and the New York World’s Fair. The bakery has been continuously owned and operated by the Veniero family since its founding. In 1984 the family added an adjoining warm enclave, with a ceiling of stained-glass panels and the original pressed tin. Frank Zerilli changed the oven from coal to gas by the 1980s as well.
Veniero’s is famous for its traditional and regional Italian confections, including handmade Italian butter cookies, biscotti, cannoli, sfogliatelle, tiramisù, and its New York staple cheesecake.
Veniero’s was featured in the first New York City episode of Food Network’s Road Tasted and has been featured on many other shows, including ABC’s Good Morning America and Live with Regis and Kelly, and Steve Schirripa’s Hungry on the cable channel Mag Rack. The bakery has also been the location for scenes on NBC’s Law & Order and HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm
In 2010, Veniero’s was named the winner for the Best Desserts in New York City by AOL’s City’s Best website. Furthermore, some food tour companies visit Veniero’s as part of their programs.
“I’m so proud and honored that our once little Italian bakery is part of the great city of New York for the last 130 years. Veniero’s success lies with our exceptional history with the neighborhood which drives us to uphold our excellent reputation,” said Robert Zerilli the President and Manager of Veniero’s. “We’re extremely thankful to our customers for making us one of the top bakeries in New York City. Veniero’s is a family owned business owned by the 4th generation descendants of Antonio Veniero, an Italian who immigrated to the United States in 1885 when he was 15 years old. Veniero’s started as a candy shop where customers could also buy espresso and biscotti. Today, Veniero’s serves over 150 desserts from traditional butter cookies, cannolis, red velvet cake, chocolate mousse cake and Veniero’s signature traditional Italian cheesecake”.
we also make custom made cakes for all occasions as well as gourmet Cakes including exceptional wedding cakes.
Veniero’s uses all fresh ingredients, no artificial ingredients whatsoever and all handmade, hand cutout cookies and biscotti. All baking done in original basement bake shop for the past 130 years.

T’was yummy.
Seems obvious.
One thing not obvious is that the counter staff sent us to a table to order treats to eat-in and noted the server could get our take-home items. The server saved us a few bucks by noting it’s more expensive that way. We had two
